And a teaser trailer followed with it.
Right on time for Halloween, Canadian developer Red Barrels has released the first brief look at 'Outlast II', which is due out around this time next year.
While the original game's terrifying asylum was creepy enough, the sequel seems to be ditching the asylum altogether to explore the unsettling implications of that old time religion. There's a burning upside-down cross, a fire-and-brimstone Southern preacher, and this vague but ominous synopsis from the YouTube description:
"No conflict is ever black and white. But once the dust has settled, the victors get to decide who was right and who was wrong. Who is good and who is evil. Human nature pushes us to extremes of violence and depravity, which we then justify by divine inspiration and a promise of paradise to come. Horror rises from desperation and blind faith. 'Outlast II' will test your faith, pushing players to a place where going mad is the only sane thing to do."
Quite literally, it's the worst parts of the Bible. Check it out below.
