Another playable character shows some differences, too.
Keiji Inafune's sans-Capcom, Kickstarted 'Mighty No. 9' is coming along at a quick pace, if the game's Kickstarter updates are anything to go by. The latest is a dense little gameplay video, showing off a multitude of updates, including a first look at two of the game's bosses.
According to the Kickstarter update: "The game plays great by the way, and is gradually getting harder!"
While the 'Mega Man' influences and comparisons will never cease, not to fade long after the game's release, 'Mighty No. 9' is definitely a looker in the animation department so far. A couple gameplay twists - especially the ice-themed boss at the end - draw the game in a positive light. At the least, it's shaping up to be a modernized 'Mega Man' with a revitalized and independent Inafune at the helm.
After splitting away from Capcom, Inafune, the man credited with 'Mega Man's' inception and original success, created independent studio Comcept. He took to Kickstarter soon after to get 'Mighty No. 9' off the ground.
