A boon for demo owners.
Back in March, The Day One edition of 'Final Fantasy Type-0 HD' (review here) became a hot seller on the PS4 & Xbox One, and of course, this was due in no small part to the inclusion of a code for the 'Final Fantasy XV' -Episode Duscae- demo. This is a significant demo, both for those just curious about Square Enix's efforts, and for those who have be waiting seven years. (A review of the original demo can be found here.)
Today, however, the 'Episode Duscae' FFXV demo is even more important as Square Enix has released a version 2.0, which comes as an update to the original and is thus available to all 'Episode Duscae' owners. (Since 'Episode Duscae' was a download code, owners can't have gotten rid of it.) In this version 2.0 is not only several new features, abilities and even enemies and quests, but also feedback incorporated from the original demo.
From Square Enix,
Here are some of the additions and changes:
You can now fight the Catoblepas! That’s the big monster in the lake. In version 2.0 one of them comes out of the lake onto land where you can fight it. Be careful though, it apparently takes 20 minutes to defeat with all four characters at level 99 and it can still knock you out in one hit.
You can now warp out of battle to certain locations
There’s a new dodge roll!
New character interactions (in the field/environment and during camping)
New team combo attacks using all four party members
Additional side quests involving just you/Noctis and one other party member
While Square Enix always had stressed that 'Episode Duscae' would be important (and exclusive to 'Type-0 HD' bundle), this update and feedback strategy is intriguing, and a chance for fans to affect the final product significantly.
