Dark Souls II

From Software deal to be finalized in a few weeks.

From Software, best known as the developer of 'Dark Souls' and 'Dark Souls II,' is no longer an independent developer. In a deal set to finalize on May 21st, Japanese publisher Kadokawa will acquire 80% of From Software's stock.

The publishing arm of Kadokawa has historically published manga and mange-related magazines but has more recently began publishing games like 'Lollipop Chainsaw,' 'Killer is Dead,' and 'Demon Gaze.' The acquisition of From Software is being described by the respective parties as mutually beneficial. From Software, which is a multi team studio, will develop core Kadokawa properties, and will benefit from an infusion of new technology and funds from Kadokawa.
