All Treats, No Tricks - HDD's 4K UHD & Blu-ray Shopping Guide, Oct. 29, 2024
How did ya do last week? Did you have more will power than I did and keep it under a hundred bucks? Some of those releases could have been released a different week, agreed? As we enter our last week of October and approach November, there is still not much of a reprieve for volume of releases. It's like a one-two punch! Oh and hey, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Welcome to Volume 5 Episode 22 of our weekly release guide. A look at the highlights of what's coming to disc the week of October 27th - November 2nd, as well as a look at announcements from last week.
4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases-
UK Import Monday begins with Second Sight and their release of Late Night with the Devil. This one comes in one of their well known Limited Edition fat-packs and a Standard Edition as well. I took one for the team and ordered the Limited Edition 4K, so expect a US announcement any time now to replace 1 of the 2 editions you got on blu-ray.
StudioCanal releases two Cult Classics titles, previously as SteelBooks, this week as standard case releases, Orca and Red Sun.
Domestic Tuesday offer a lot, just no New Releases. Where to begin is often times a challenge but I usually go somewhat alphabetically.
Two titles from Paramount this week with A to Z, Addams Family Values and Zodiac.
Kino Lorber continues to be plagued with delayed releases, but what we can confirm as coming out this week is Baby Blood (Kino Cult #19).
From Warner Bros this week, the 1966 animated classic Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!.
Shout! Factory is up next with a pair of 'Collector's Edition' releases, Drag Me To Hell and Shocker.
Not sure if what I am seeing is true, but it is quite possible that both Arrow Video's releases of Trick 'r Treat are Sold Out. There is the Standard Release and the Arrow Store Exclusive release. This one enjoys quite the cult following so it's possible they've already sold through their run.
Standard edition Vinegar Syndrome releases this week (via Amazon) include Delirium: Photo of Gioia and Howling II: Your Sister Is A Werewolf.
Turbine Medien has the German release of Peter Jackson's The Frighteners as a 4K SteelBook with a street date of Tuesday.
Blu-ray releases-
Blu-ray counterparts of the above 4K releases? Nope, not this week. But we already got em in the past.
Monday UK imports... there are a few interesting ones. Have a look see:
- Freud's Last Session (UK Import)
- Bloodbath at the House of Death (1984) (UK Import)
- Paddington Bear: The Complete Collection (1975-1986) (UK Import Limited Pop Up Edition)
- Paddington Bear: The Complete Collection (1975-1986) (UK Import)
- J-Horror Rising - Arrow Video Blu-ray Limited Edition
- Columbia Horror - Indicator Series Limited Edition (Region B UK Import)
- El Vampiro: Two Bloodsucking Tales from Mexico - Indicator Series Limited Edition (UK Import)
- Daiei Gothic: Japanese Ghost Stories - Limited Edition (UK Import)
- Dogra Magra - Limited Edition (UK Import)
- A Quiet Place in the Country (UK Import Limited Edition)
Domestic releases Tuesday looks a little bit daunting, but just like most months towards the last week, those include Vinegar Syndrome's site exclusive releases. Don't get me wrong, it's still a pretty busy calendar without those titles. And I do encourage you to shop their stuff too.
Warner Archive Collection (barring any last minute bumps) is on track to release the following this week; The Beast With Five Fingers (1946), For Your Consideration (2006), A Man Called Shenandoah (1965-1966), The Return of Doctor X (1939), Sweethearts and The Walking Dead (1936).
Anime highlights this week include The Ancient Magus' Bride - Season Two, Part Two, The Executioner and Her Way of Life Complete Collection (Premium Box Set), Level 1, Demon Lord and One Room Hero - Complete Collection, One Piece Film: Gold - Movie and a Crunchyroll Store exclusive title with a Thursday release date, Macross Plus - Movie + OVA: Ultimate Edition.
Collectors of Kino Cult Series can look for #18, The Classic Ghosts this week. And if you have been collecting the Film Noir series, here is the next one, Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XXII.
Honorable mention, because, just because doped out animals are now hip. This time, look for Crackcoon.
Wednesday import releases, a couple of 3D Turbine Medien titles and a few titles from down under.
- Dolittle - Turbine Collector's Series 3D Blu-ray (German Import)
- Migration - Turbine Collector's Series 3D Blu-ray (German Import)
- Mission: Impossible - Fallout - Turbine Collector's Series 3D Blu-ray (German Import)

Notable announcements from last week:

In the US, Canada and the UK, look for The Cell on Blu-ray and 4K, Incubus on Blu-ray and 4K, Inglourious Basterds on Blu-ray and 4K, Rampo Noir on Blu-ray, in the UK only, The Gift on Blu-ray and 4K (The US is getting a release from Shout Factory), and The Usual Suspects on Blu-ray and 4K (Kino Lorber did a 4K in the US).
