In what will likely be Universal's final HD DVD catalog releases for 2006, the studio announced today that 'The Deer Hunter' and 'The Breakfast Club' will hit stores in late December.
With a street date of December 26, the teen classic and the Best Picture Oscar winner should round out Universal's HD DVD 2006 lineup. Each will receive a 1080p/VC-1 video transfer and Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 soundtracks, while 'Breakfast Club' will also be a HD DVD/DVD combo.
No word on full specs yet, but both are expected to include the same extras as their DVD counterparts (which in the case of 'The Breakfast Club,' is a measly theatrical trailer.)
Retail is $28.95 for 'The Dear Hunter,' and Universal's standard $34.95 combo price for 'The Breakfast Club.'
We've added the latest specs for both to our HD DVD Release Schedule, and stay tuned for final details to be officially announced in the coming days.
We've also set up dedicated threads for both releases in our new Forums area -- click the following links to discuss either 'The Breakfast Club' release or 'The Deer Hunter' release.
