The 1973 crime romance starring Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek is planned for Blu-ray in March.
In an early announcement to retailers, Criterion says 'Badlands' will hit Blu-ray on March 19.
'Badlands' announced the arrival of a major talent: Terrence Malick. His impressionistic take on the notorious Charles Starkweather and Caril Ann Fugate killing spree of the late 1950s uses a serial-killer narrative as a springboard for an oblique teenage romance.
The Blu-ray will feature a 4K digital restoration transfer, an uncompressed monaural soundtrack, and supplements include: Making "Badlands," a new documentary featuring actors Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek and production designer Jack Fisk; New interview with editor Billy Weber about director Terrence Malick's unique approach to editing; New interview with producer Edward Pressman; Trailer; and a booklet featuring an essay by filmmaker Michael Almereyda.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $39.95.
