Captain’s Blog: The Wrath of Comic Con

Can you believe that it’s that time of year again already? Central Canada Comic Con will return to Winnipeg, Manitoba starting tomorrow (November 2nd-4th), and another Starfleet Captain will lead the way for the 2012 event. Engage!

The main headliner for 2012 is renowned actor Sir Patrick Stewart, the iconic Captain Jean-Luc Picard from ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’. Apparently, Mr. Stewart will only attend the show on Saturday, so if you were hoping to meet him, plan accordingly. I’d imagine that his line-ups will be insane, but fortunately for me, I already got to meet him earlier this year at the Calgary Expo.

The only other ‘Star Trek’ alum appearing at the convention this year is Walter Koenig (Pavel Chekov from ‘Star Trek: The Original Series’). Koenig is also famous for his role as Bester on ‘Babylon 5’. Unfortunately, Brent Spiner canceled yet again.

Other notable guests include Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian, ‘Star Wars’), Bruce Boxleitner (‘Tron’, ‘Tron: Legacy’), Aaron Ashmore (‘Smallville’, ‘Lost Girl’), Zoie Palmer (‘Lost Girl’), Torri Higginson (‘Stargate SG-1’, ‘Stargate Atlantis’), Paul McGillion (‘Stargate Atlantis’), Dean Cain (‘Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman’), and more.

As always, with multiple artists, vendors and special exhibits (including the DeLorean from ‘Back to the Future’), the convention should definitely make for interesting weekend. Maybe I’ll see you there!

  1. Was just going to mention that of course Bruce was the lead actor in Babylon 5, but kinda irrelevant now. 😉

Wish I could go to Comic Con, but not living in America it’s kind’ve difficult without spending a small fortune. Managed to go the recent big ‘5 captains’ Star Trek con here in the UK though, which was cool (With my new girlfriend dressed as Seven of Nine no less! Woohoo!). The world record was broken, for the number of people in Star Trek costume. 😉
