Warner Home Video will deck the halls with high-def holly this holiday
season, when it brings the classics 'A Christmas Story' and 'National Lampoon's
Christmas Vacation' to Blu-ray and HD DVD this December.
After the studio leaked a brief hint last week via their press website
that the holiday titles would be coming soon, Warner has officially given both
'A Christmas Story' and 'Christmas Vacation' a December 5 street date.
Tech specs for the Blu-ray and HD DVD versions of each title appear identical,
with 1080p/VC-1 transfers and on 'Christmas Story' Dolby 1.0 mono tracks, and Dobly 2.0 surround tracks on 'Christmas Vacaction.' Extras include
all the same extras as found on the standard-def DVD versions of each, though
there is no new exclusive HD content.
Warner has set a list price of $28.95 for each title.
Note that the 2002 live-action update of 'Scooby-Doo' was also expected to
be a part of Warner's Christmas high-def wave, but as of now, it remains officially
unannounced. We'll keep you posted if any further news comes in.
We've updated the listings for both 'A Christmas Story' and 'Christmas Vacation,'
including box art, to our HD
DVD Release Schedule, and Blu-ray
Release Schedule.
