Sony Pictures Home Entertainment today announced it will bring 'Gridiron Gang' to Blu-ray day-and-date with the standard DVD release, and will unleash its latest BD-50 title, 'Resident Evil: Apocalypse,' in early 2007.
'Resident Evil: Apocalypse' is due first on January 16, followed by The Rock's football drama 'Gridiron Gang' on January 23. Both feature 1080p/MPEG-2 video and uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround tracks.
No features have yet been announced for 'Gang,' but 'Resident Evil' will come fully loaded, with three audio commentaries and multiple making-of featurettes. It will also be Sony's latest Blu-Wizard-enabled titles, which allow users to customize the supplement viewing experience by inserting the bonus content into the feature film via seamless branching.
Sony has set a $38.95 list price for 'Gridiron Gang' and $28.95 for 'Resident Evil: Apocalypse.;
Note also that Sony had originally announced a January 16 Blu-ray release date for 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'; that title has now been delayed, with no new date set. We'll certainly keep you posted.
We've added listings for both titles to our Blu-ray Release Schedule, and stay tuned for complete specs soon.
