As announced earlier today, Fox will launch the first of four Blu-ray release waves beginning November 14, which include such hits as 'Ice Age: The Meltdown,' 'Kingdom of Heaven,' 'Fantastic Four' and the recent remake of 'The Omen.'
The studio has now issued a full press release with specs on the titles, which can be read in full here.
Aimed at the "early adopter and Playstation 3 purchaser," all of Fox's first Blu-ray releases will be presented in full 1080p video, and in what may be a surprise to many, the studio has opted to go with the AVC/MPEG-4 compression codec, eschewing the so-far more popular VC-1 and MPEG-2 options.
The studio is also the first to publicly support the new DTS HD Lossless Master Audio format on select discs, which promises to deliver audio quality comparable to the studio master.
Check out the full press release for all the details, and we've begun adding all these specs to the listings in our complete Blu-ray Release Schedule. We also hope to have box cover art for Fox's first Blu-ray titles in the coming days. Stay tuned!
