Fox will kick off the first of four initial waves of Blu-ray disc releases on November 14, including 'Behind Enemy Lines,' 'Fantastic Four,' 'Kiss the Dragon,' 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen,' 'Speed,' 'The Transporter,' the 2006 remake of 'The Omen,' and the Director's Cut of Ridley Scott's 'Kingdom of Heaven,' which is the first announced Blu-ray title to sport a 50Gb, BD-50 dual-layer disc.
"I reviewed [the Blu-ray version]... and I was astounded. It was like looking through a window of clarity,' said Scott.
That initial wave will be followed by the highest-grossing day-and-date title yet to hit a next-gen format, 'Ice Age: The Meltdown,' on November 21. Fox promised that the Blu-ray version of the $200 million-grossing animated blockbuster will come with extensive bonus features that make full use of Blu-ray's much-herald Java-based interactive capabilities, as well as other bells and whistles.
Fox's final two announced batches of Blu-ray titles will come from MGM, which recently named Fox its new home video distributor after parting ways with parent company Sony earlier this year.
Streeting November 28 will be the Oscar-winning 'The Usual Suspects' and 'Windtalkers,' followed by the original 'Rocky' and 'Bulletproof Monk' on December 5.
Fox’s first Blu-ray titles were announced early Thursday at the IFA conference in Berlin, Germany.
Though full specs and box art are not yet available, we will post further details as soon as it is officially announced.
New listings for all of Fox's launch titles are currently being added to our Blu-ray Release Schedule.
