Blue Underground has announced its latest catalog release for next-gen, bringing the 1983 cult favorite 'Fire and Ice' to Blu-ray in late-August.

Billed as a "once in the lifetime collaboration" between legendary animators Ralph Bakshi and Frank Frazetta, 'Fire and Ice' failed to achieve the same box office heights as their previous efforts (which included 'Fritz the Cat,' 'Wizards' and 'Conan the Barbarian'), though it has gained a sizable cult following over the past two decades.

Hitting Blu-ray on March 20th!

Blue Underground will give the film it's debut high-def release, setting an August 25 street date for the Blu-ray.

Tech specs will see 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video (1.85:1) and audio tracks in DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 7.1 Surround and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 Surround.

Extras include audio commentary with Bakshi, a pair of featurettes ("The Making of Fire and Ice," "Bakshi on Frazetta"), still galleries and the theatrical trailer.

Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $34.95.

You'll find the latest specs for 'Fire and Ice' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's indexed under August 25.
