The book allows readers to dig through a treasure-trove of information, photos, concept art, storyboards and firsthand accounts of the production of Ridley Scott’s seminal vision of sci-fi terror, ‘Alien’.

I don’t personally intend to run a whole lot of coverage of Comic-Con here in the blog this week. I’m not attending the event, and most of the fanboy wankery that happens there doesn’t interest me. However, I did find this video clip of Ridley Scott talking about his now-shooting movie ‘Prometheus’ (which at this point may or may not be a prequel to ‘Alien’) fairly interesting.

March may be over, but Movie Madness is still going strong. For some reason, I thought the matchups on Wednesday would be closer. However, Tony Stark easily defeated Dr. Horrible. (I think we can all agree that if it came down to a singing contest, it would’ve been no contest at all.) In the other duel, Wolverine easily skewered the young Nazi Amon Goeth and moved on to the next round. Today, we’ll take a look at Christian Bale’s Batman versus Buzz Lightyear, and Ellen Ripley versus Jason Bourne.

When the ‘Alien Anthology‘ box set was released on Blu-ray a few weeks ago, most reviewers (and many fans) pointed out that only the first two movies in the series had been freshly remastered for optimal picture quality. The latter two entries were sourced from older high-def transfers prepared for the last DVD release. Now, director Jean-Pierre Jeunet has spoken out about his disappointment with the treatment that his film, ‘Alien Resurrection’, received.
As Hollywood logic goes, if you liked something once, you’ll like it even better three times or more. For this week’s Roundtable, we take a look at our favorite movie series that have had at least three entries.
