'The Mentalist: The Complete First Season' Announced for Blu-ray[teaser]The hit CBS series will be tracking down killers on Blu-ray in November. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Warner Bros is preparing 'The Mentalist: The Complete First Season' for Blu-ray. The title is currently available exclusively from the Warner Brothers Shop and will be available from all major retailers on November 5. A mentalist is a master manipulator of thought and behavior. The mentalist is Patrick Jane (Simon Baker), a celebrity psychic whose wife and child are viciously murdered by an elusive serial killer called Red John. Devastated, Patrick admits his paranormal act is fake, renounces his earlier life and uses his astonishing skills of observation and analysis - talents that made him appear psychically gifted - to bring killers to justice. Patrick now helps an elite team of detectives break their toughest cases. But no matter how many criminals he catches, Patrick never forgets his central goal: Find Red John. And bring him down. 'We're the Millers' Announced and Detailed for Blu-ray[teaser]The outrageous road trip comedy is bound for Blu-ray in November. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Warner Brothers is preparing to release 'We're the Millers' on Blu-ray on November 19. David Burke (Jason Sudeikis) is a small-time pot dealer whose clientele includes chefs and soccer moms, but no kids. After all, he has his scruples. When his stash and cash are stolen, he's left in major debt to his supplier, Brad (Ed Helms), and soon becomes a big-time drug smuggler, tasked with bringing Brad's latest shipment in from Mexico. One fake wife (Jennifer Anniston), two pretend kids (Roberts and Poulter) and a huge, shiny RV later, the "Millers" are headed south of the border for a Fourth of July weekend that is sure to end with a bang. 'Vinyl' Planned for Blu-ray[teaser]Sara Sugarman's punk rock comedy based on real events will arrive on Blu-ray in January. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Shout Factory is preparing to release 'Vinyl' on Blu-ray on January 14. Aging punk rockers, Johnny Jones (Phil Daniels) and the Weapons of Happiness, reunite at the funeral of a mutual friend, resulting in an impromptu recording session. Upon listening to the recordings the next day, they find they may have come up with a hit single, and after deciding to give it one more shot, they are at once confronted with the difficulty of getting their old label interested due to their age. They then hatch a plan to draft in a bunch of young photogenic teenagers to mime to their single as a way of finding success and tricking the record label, but the lie doesn't hold for too long. Specs and supplements have yet to be revealed, but suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $19.97. With a sleek, unobtrusive design, the SoundPlate offers a new option for users looking to get high quality audio in a space saving package. "The tradeoff for the ultra thin TV design has been smaller speakers, which has led to a surge in demand for supplementary home audio devices," said Jay Vandenbree, senior vice president, home entertainment, LG Electronics USA. "We're augmenting our already robust line of soundbars with the LG SoundPlate to give consumers yet another alternative for powerful home entertainment sound in a compact, attractive design." At just 1-3/8 inches high, the speaker is the perfect match for 32 to 55-inch TVs. And even with its sleek size, the LAP340 features 4.1 channel support with dual integrated subwoofers. The 120W unit also includes the company's proprietary acoustic tuning system and Bass Port system for enhanced dialogue reproduction and reduced vibrations. In addition, the SoundPlate uses LG's Cinema Mode for enveloping multidirectional audio. Adam (Kirk Douglas) and Alex (Farrah Fawcett) are scientists seeking new forms of food deep beneath the surface of Saturn's moon Titan. Their laboratory is a space-age Eden and their life is idyllic until the arrival of Captain James (Harvey Keitel), a murderous psychopath, and his "helper" robot Hector. As Saturn goes into eclipse and cuts the station off from the rest of the universe, Captain James and Hector terrorize Adam and Alex. When the homicidal robot turns on its creator, James is torn apart trying to disassemble it and the scientists are forced to battle it out for themselves. Live Streaming Comes to AT&T U-Verse[teaser]The television service now supports streaming live programs through the web and mobile devices. [/teaser] AT&T has detailed plans to expand its U-verse features to include streaming options for a variety of devices and stations. Subscribers can access the streamable channels through Uverse.com or the U-verse app for Apple and Android smartphones and tablets. About 108 channels are participating in the launch, including the Travel Channel, HGTV, Food Network, MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, Showtime, and Starz. Access to specific stations and content is based on the subscriber's U-verse package, and only certain networks (25 to start) will be allowing streaming outside the home. U-verse customers can now view the streaming content from Uverse.com/Live. Support for the iPad through the U-verse app is also now available, and the iPhone will follow on October 16.
