Netflix Reveals April 14 Premiere Date for New 'Mystery Science Theater 3000'[teaser]The cult favorite show is returning for new episodes in April.[/teaser] Netflix has announced a premiere date for its upcoming reboot of 'Mystery Science Theater 3000.' The show will be debut exclusively through the streaming platform on April 14 Mystery Science Theater 3000's national broadcast life began in 1989. Set on the Satellite of Love where a human host is trapped by mad scientists with his two robot sidekicks and forced to watch an endless run of B movies. The format proved to be popular, and during its eleven years and 198 episodes on the Comedy Channel and Sci-Fi Channel, it attained a loyal fan base and critical acclaim, including a Peabody Award and two Emmys® nominations. The Netflix reboot was initiated by a successful, record breaking crowdfunding campaign by creator Joel Hodgson and Shout! Factory through Kickstarter. Original creator Joel Hodgson will be joined by comedian Jonah Ray ("Jonah Heston") as the new host and Felicia Day ('Geek & Sundry') as "Kinga Forrester." Elliott Kalan ('The Daily Show') will serve as the head writer for the reboot, with Joel McHale and Dan Harmon also listed as additional writers. Mary Jo Pehl ("Pearl Forrester"), Bill Corbett ("Crow T. Robot") and Kevin Murphy ("Tom Servo") from the original cast will reprise their roles in the new show as well. The series is executive produced by Joel Hodgson, Richard Foos, Bob Emmer, Garson Foos, Jonathan Stern, Harold Buchholz and Elliott Kalan, along with Satellite of Love, LLC, Alternaversal Productions and Abominable Pictures. Sling TV Announces Multi-Extra Discount Pricing for Add-On Channel Packages[teaser]Customers who sign up for multiple Sling TV Extras can now save on their monthly bill.[/teaser] Sling TV has announced the launch of its new "4 Extras Deal." As part of the promotion, subscribers can now sign up for a bundle with the Kids Extra, Lifestyle Plus Extra, Comedy Plus Extra, and News Extra packages all for just $10 per month (previously the four together cost $20 per month). Sling TV offers a variety of live streaming and on-demand programming packages. The base Sling TV Orange plan currently costs $20 per month and features more than 30 channels, including Disney/ESPN stations. Meanwhile, the base Sling TV Blue plan costs $25 per month and features more than 40 channels, including FOX and NBC stations. Finally, customers can also opt to combine both plans for $40 per month. Likewise, customers can now add the Kids Extra, Lifestyle Plus Extra, Comedy Plus Extra, and News Extra packages all together for an additional $10 per month, offering cheaper pricing compared to DirecTV Now for a similar channel selection. 'Passengers' Announced for Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray[teaser]The science fiction thriller starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt will hit both formats next month. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Sony will release 'Passengers' on Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray on March 14. Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence (Best Actress, Silver Linings Playbook, 2012) and Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) are among the 5,000 passengers who decided to board the Avalon spaceship for a 120-year journey that offers them the opportunity to wake up in a new century, on a new planet. The trip takes a deadly turn when their hibernation pods mysteriously wake them 90 years before they reach their destination. As they try to unravel the mystery behind the malfunction, they discover that the ship itself is in grave danger. With the lives of 5,000 sleeping passengers at stake, only Jim and Aurora can save them all. Special features include three featurettes, plus "Outtakes from the Set." Hulu Snags Subscription Streaming Rights to STARZ Original series 'Black Sails'[teaser]The high seas drama is sailing toward Hulu.[/teaser] Hulu and Lionsgate have announced a new deal granting Hulu the subscription streaming rights to the STARZ Original series, 'Black Sails.' As part of the agreement, all past seasons of the show are now available to stream through Hulu. Likewise, Hulu will also add the series' current fourth and final season when it becomes available. Black Sails takes place twenty years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson's classic, Treasure Island, and follows the most feared pirate of the day, Captain Flint (Toby Stephens). The 10-episode fourth season of the historical pirate drama – currently airing on STARZ now - brings fans to the heroic conclusion of the series, and finds the pirates at war in the West Indies. The shores of New Providence Island have never been bloodier, but the closer civilization comes to defeat, the more desperately, and destructively, it will fight back.
