Rumor Mill: Next Wave of Bond Blu-rays Due March[teaser]The Australian release of the next six Bond flicks on Blu-ray this March has hopes high that the same titles will also find their way to US store shelves at the same time.[/teaser] The Australian website ezydvd.com is reporting that MGM (via its parent distributor Fox) will release another half-dozen Bond titles on Blu-ray in Australia this March (exact street date TBA). The six flicks are reported to included some of the best of the Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Pierce Brosnan Bonds -- including 'Goldfinger,' 'The Spy Who Loved Me,' and 'GoldenEye' -- as well as what are considered to be some of the weakest entries of the series, 'Diamonds Are Forever,' 'License to Kill,' and 'The World is Not Enough.' This next wave of Bond releases is also thought to coincide with the home video arrival of the latest big-screen Bond adventure, the worldwide blockbuster 'Quantum of Solace.' Though the Australian release of these titles doesn't necessarily mean they will also hit shelves stateside, generally Fox/MGM's release of such tentpole titles in another region happens concurrently with (or is preceded by) a US release, heightening expectations that a domestic announcement is on its way. We should stress that with no official word from Fox or MGM stateside, all discussion of a US release of the Bond catalogue is purely speculative at this point. Needless to say, we'll keep you posted when and if any official information comes in. Stay tuned!Posted Tue Dec 2, 2008 at 12:00 PM PST by: -
