Eagle Rock will debut the Blu-ray on June 30, day-and-date with the standard DVD. There's no word yet on tech specs, but watch for further details to come. There are no announced extras. 'Sons of Anarchy' Motoring to Blu-ray this August[teaser]In an early alert to retailers, Fox Home Entertainment has set an August arrival for the first season of TV road show 'Sons of Anarchy.'[/teaser] Sprung from the minds behind 'The Sopranos' and 'The Shield,' the cult cable show, starring Katey Sagal, Kim Coates, and Charlie Hunnam, will arrive on Blu-ray August 18 (day-and-date with the standard DVD). Tech specs will see all 13 episodes spread across a four-disc set, presented in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video (1.78:1) and DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround. The considerable amount of bonus features includes audio commentaries on select episodes, five featurettes ("Head out on the Highway," "Counter Culture Icons," "Tats Incredible," "Easy Riders," "Makin' the Grade"), 40 minutes of deleted scenes and a gag reel. Sony Drops 'Dr. Strangelove' Blu-ray Specs, Box Art[teaser]Sony has released final specs and box art for the oft-delayed 'Dr. Strangelove,' which will drop this June as a feature-laden "book" special edition with exclusive content. [/teaser] As previously reported, the on-again/off-again high-def release of the Stanley Kubrick masterpiece is now confirmed to arrive on June 16th, timed to coincide with a new standard DVD re-issue. Tech specs will see remastered 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and first-ever Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround track. Bonus features will include the documentary "No Fighting in the War Room or: Dr. Strangelove and the Nuclear Threat," additional featurettes "Best Sellers: Peter Sellers Remembered," "The Art of Stanley Kubrick: From Short Films to Strangelove," "Inside the Making of Dr. Strangelove"), vintage interviews and a still gallery. Exclusive to the Blu-ray will be a "Cold Facts' picture-and-graphics track. And like all Sony titles, the set comes with BD-Live connectivity, though at press time no exclusive content has been announced. Timeless Media Jumps Into Blu-ray with Trio of TV Titles[teaser]Indie Timeless Media Group has announced its first wave of Blu-ray titles, bringing three top TV titles to high-def in late August.[/teaser] The first three titles on Timeless Media's schedule are all made-for-television productions, among them the extended version of the 1996 Peter Benchley undersea thriller 'The Beast,' the four-part Discovery Channel anthology 'A Haunting: Twilight of Evil,' and a 40th anniversary edition of the classic 1959 CBS News special 'Man on the Moon,' narrated by Walter Cronkite. All three will receive a concurrent release of August 25. The only tech specs we have received are BD-50 dual-layer presentations for both 'Beast' and 'Haunting' (due to their 200-minute runtimes), and a BD-25 single-layer for 'Man on the Moon.' All will be in 1080 video, with no word on audio specs. There are no announced extras. Suggested retail price for 'Beast' and 'Haunting' are $24.98, and $19.98 for 'Man on the Moon.' Smithsonian Kicks Off 'Greatest Monuments' Blu-ray Series with 'Washington D.C.'[teaser]High-def newcomer Smithsonian Networks is taking Blu-ray viewers on a trip to 'America's Greatest Monuments,' announcing their first travelogue title for release later this month.[/teaser] Originally produced for the Smithsonian Channel HD cable network, the 'America's Greatest Monuments' series takes viewers around the country to examine the history and lore of our most famed natural and man-made wonders. Kicking off its Blu-ray support, Smithsonian has set a May 26 street date for 'America's Greatest Monuments: Washington DC.' Universal Delivers 'Unborn' Blu-ray Specs, Box Art[teaser]Universal has revealed final specs for an unrated 'Unborn,' though fans may be disappointed by the lack of extras.[/teaser] As originally reported, Universal has set a July 7 Blu-ray release (day-and-date with the standard DVD) for the minor horror hit. Full specs are now confirmed, with the Meagan Good-starrer presented in both theatrical and unrated cuts (via seamless branching) with 1080p video (1.85:1) and a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround track. Extras are minimal, with deleted scenes the only bonus feature of note. The disc will also come BD-Live-enabled, with My Scenes Sharing. Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $39.95. Sony Bundles Up 'Crouching Tiger' in Blu-ray Box Set[teaser]Sony has finally announced 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' for high-def release this July, though fans may only be able to buy it as part of a three-title Blu-ray bundle. [/teaser] The on-again, off-again 'Tiger' was last spotted with a November 2006 Blu-ray release date, before Sony unceremoniously yanked the much-anticipated title from its release schedule. Now, retailers have been alerted to July 14 Blu-ray release date for the 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Curse of the Golden Flower, House of Flying Daggers Trilogy' box set. This three-pack bundle will include a first-ever Blu-ray version of 'Tiger,' plus the stand-alone versions of 'Curse' and 'House' that the studio previously released on the format in 2006. At press time, there has been no word from Sony as to whether a stand-alone version of 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' will be made available, but expectations are that it will be available outside of the box set.
