'Piranha - 3D' Blu-ray Date Correction[teaser]Our condolences. The deadly freshwater fish won't be leaping out of TVs until early January. [/teaser] As previously reported from a very early announcement to retailers, Alejandre Aja's 'Piranha - 3D' was reportedly planned for the Blu-ray 3D format on December 27, but now it seems Sony will be releasing the title on January 11, part of their New Year's resolution to spend the upcoming year swamping home video with excessively violent 3D fun. The film is a loose remake of Joe Dante's 'Piranha' (already released on Blu-ray as part of Shout Factory's Corman Classics line and reviewed by HDD's own Tom Landy) and stars Elizabeth Shue, Jerry O'Connell, Richard Dreyfuss, and Ving Rhames. Specs and supplements have yet to be revealed, but suggested list price for the 3D Blu-ray is set at $39.95, while another version (we're assuming is a standard Blu-ray) is listed at $34.95. You can find the latest specs for both versions of 'Piranha - 3D' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where it's now indexed under January 11.Posted Wed Oct 27, 2010 at 12:15 PM PDT by: -

Could We See a Future of Dish-Free Satellite TV?[teaser]PhD Marcel van de Burgwal says yes – thanks to flat antennas and microchips. [/teaser] Say what you will about the positive parts of satellite television, the one big downside has always been the dish. It's a problem of aesthetics for some and an issue of practicality for others. One Dutch researcher has come up with a way to get rid of the problem altogether. Marcel van de Burgwal has created a microchip that could make home satellite dishes obsolete. Using the new chip, satellite subscribers would have a series of flat antennas inside of their set-top boxes as receivers, rather than a large dish outside. The chip utilizes several small and simple processors instead of one large one like traditional chips, making it far more efficient. Burgwal also says this chip could be used in cell phones and other mobile devices. Source: via EngadgetPosted Wed Oct 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM PDT by: -

If you've got an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 in the house you can stream your video from the WD Live Hub to your system. If you've got an iPhone, iPad or Android phone you can do the same. It's a slick two-in-one. The WD Live Hub comes with a full terabyte of storage space and is available now at $199. Source: Western DigitalPosted Wed Oct 27, 2010 at 07:00 AM PDT by: -
