Cheap Blu-rays, Free Giveaways, and $50 Blu-ray Players at Blockbuster This Weekend[teaser]The Blockbuster Open House runs November 19th and 20th and features plenty of discounts and even a game tournament. [/teaser] Blockbuster seemed like it was down for the count, but the sale to Dish has helped things start to turn around. It's not there yet, but the company is at least looking in the right direction. The one big hurdle, of course, is getting people back into those brick and mortar locations. The Blockbuster Open House this weekend should do a lot to help that along. The company is offering up 49 cent rentals on older movies, 99 cent game rentals and sales on previously viewed and played titles. In fact, for movies and games priced $15 and below you'll be able to bundle your own deal. You can get three for $20 or five for $30. Five Blu-rays for $30? Not too shabby. Blockbuster also advertises that with a 1-year subscription to the Blockbuster Combo Pass or Blockbuster Total Access you'll be able to get a Blu-ray player for $49. The Blockbuster stores we contacted did not have a brand or model number handy. Source: BlockbusterPosted Fri Nov 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM PST by: -

Pulse-pounding music and awesome dance moves ignite this exhilarating story of passion, determination and finding the courage to follow your dreams. Also starring Mekhi Phifer and featuring hip-hop sensations Missy Elliott and Lil' Romeo. From the director of 'Honey' comes 'Honey 2.' The legacy of legendary dancer and choreographer Honey Daniels lives on in spirited 17-year-old Maria Bennett (Katerina Graham). When Maria returns to her gritty Bronx roots to pursue her dreams of dancing, her killer moves attract the attention of Brandon (Randy Wayne), who urges her to help lead a rowdy group of rising dancers to win a fierce national competition. Boxee Live TV OTA Dongle Priced at $49, Coming in January[teaser]Boxee is going straight after cable TV with this one. [/teaser] While Boxee has always been a leader in the cord-cutting movement, things have gotten a little less covert. The announcement of the Boxee Live TV dongle for over-the-air HD signals is filled with reasons you don't need to pay for cable anymore. The dongle, which will be hitting in January at a price of $49, enables you to pick up free broadcasts of your local channels and watch the HD television live on your Boxee Box. Boxee's Avner Ronen points out that events like the Superbowl, World Series, Oscars and Olympics are all on broadcast television, so you won't miss much if you ditch cable. At this time, Boxee Live TV will only be available in the US and Canada and will be the only way - at least for now - to get live broadcasts on your Boxee Box. The Box also lacks a DVR feature, but according to the official FAQ though, it could happen. "... if we get enough users asking for DVR then we could take advantage of that other USB input on the back of the box and let a user connect a drive for recordings." Wilson Audio Introduces the $195,000 Alexandria XLF Loudspeaker[teaser]They're going to be positioned at the top of the Alexandria line and come in at $195,000. [/teaser] Most people will never be able to swing the $200,000 needed for a pair of Alexandria XLF speakers, and even those that can will be hard pressed to spend that much. Still, you have to admit, they're fun to drool over. Dave Wilson, founder and president of Wilson Audio, says that the Alexandria XLF is a no-compromise speaker. One significant improvement over the X-2 Series 2 is a new passive bass management system. The look of the speaker has also been revised to ensure low resonance from the enclosure. The XLF comes in at $195,000 - we're assuming that's for a pair. Of course, if you don't feel like spending that much on a speaker, consider a similarly priced Bentley Continental, five E-Class Mercedes or, you know, a 2,000 square foot house.
