'The Secret World of Arrietty' Blu-ray Announced[teaser]The next Studio Ghibli animated feature is in the works for Blu-ray in May. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Disney/Buena Vista has revealed 'The Secret World of Arrietty' for Blu-ray on May 22. The film centers on a family of people who are just a few inches tall who hide from the world and live by borrowing from normal-sized humans, until their existence is discovered by a young boy. Specs have yet to be revealed, but the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack will include a storyboard version of the film, original trailers and TV spots, music videos by Cecile Corbel and Bridgit Mendler, and a making of the Mendler video. 'Simply Red: Live at Montreux 2003' Announced for Blu-ray[teaser]The Brit-Pop-Soul band is bound for Blu-ray in May. [/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Eagle Rock Entertainment says 'Simply Red: Live at Montreux 2003' is getting a high-definition release on May 22. The concert was filmed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, where the band, over the course of its 25 years, has been a longtime Montreux favorite. This two-hour 18-song soul-drenched set—recorded while touring for the multi-platinum Home album— was filmed in high definition and recorded in DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital 5.1, LPCM Stereo. Simply Red—with international album sales upwards of 50 million—boasts frontman vocalist Mick Hucknall, Ian Kirkham (saxophone); Kenji Suzuki (guitar); Steve Lewinson (bass); Pete Lewinson (drums); Dave Clayton (keyboards); Chris de Margary (flugelhorn, saxophone); John Johnson (trombone, percussion); Kevin Robinson (trumpet); Sarah Brown and Dee Johnson (backing vocals). Atlantic Launches In-Ceiling Speakers[teaser]Out of the five new models, four feature the Trim-Look design. [/teaser] Atlantic Technology's new ICTS-6HT is a new in-ceiling speaker that's available right now. It features a 6.5" woofer that's mounted at a 15 degree angle so you can direct it right toward the listener and a tweeter that pivots up to 30 degrees – it comes in at $400 per speaker. The four other speakers that will be shipping from Atlantic at the end of this month come from the Trim-Look line and all come equipped with thin, magnetically attached grilles that aim to allow the speaker to blend nearly seamlessly. The TLC-6.3 and TLC-8.3, are Tri-Mode speakers that feature dual-voice-coil woofers and two pivoting tweeters. 'Erin Brockovich' Blu-ray Announced and Detailed[teaser]Steven Soderbergh's 2000 drama that landed Julia Roberts an Oscar is coming to Blu-ray in June.[/teaser] In an early announcement to retailers, Universal has set 'Erin Brockovich' for a high-definition release on June 5. The film based on the true story of a single mother who goes after the Pacific Gas and Electric Company for dumping toxic waste in a small community was also nominated for four other Academy Awards including Best Director and Best Picture. The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include: two behind-the-scenes featurettes (Erin Brockovich: A Look at a Real Life Experience and Spotlight on Location: The Making of Erin Brockovich) and two 100 Years of Universal featurettes (The Lot and Academy Award Winners). Netflix Secures Original Series From Writer/Director Eli Roth[teaser]13 episodes of the serialized murder-mystery-monster drama will be available in 2013. [/teaser] The man behind 'Cabin Fever,' 'Hostel' and the ridiculously wonderful propaganda film 'Nation's Pride' in 'Inglourious Basterds' is going to be making a drama series that's completely exclusive to Netflix. The series is called 'Hemlock Grove' and it's another in the continuing trend of dramatic shows based around magical and mythical creatures. When a young girl is found dead, suspects are everywhere, including a potential werewolf and others.
