Some rules and details key to completing this Level 26 Raid.
Maybe you've played 20 player levels of 'Destiny,' or even snagged an exotic shotgun (see the review) as you fill out your guardian's light level. Chances are, however, that you haven't yet cut your teeth on one of 'Destiny's Raid levels.
The first Raid level is 'Vault of Glass', and it appears to be even more than just a high level Strike on steroids. It opens today for players hardy enough to tackle a serious level 26 challenge, and unlike other levels, it's long enough, hard enough, and special enough to allow players to bail out mid raid and resume. In fact Bungie is giving players a week of time ti carry over a save and complete the Raid. To carry over progress, players need to stick with their Fireteam leaders, so choose carefully.
From Bungie,
"Beneath Venus, evil stirs."
The Director is light on details for the Raid in Destiny. This is by design. The most elaborate mission ever created by Bungie is a mystery as much as it is a challenge – a puzzle and a gauntlet. The race to see who can be first to solve it - with their cunning and their skill - is about to begin.
At 2:00 AM Pacific on Tuesday, September 16th, the Raid will accept challengers in Destiny. That’s 9:00 AM GMT.
Become Legend.
Not everyone will qualify. Among those who do, not everyone will succeed. To even approach this trial of teamwork and combat, the Guardians in your Fireteam will need to be Level 26.
Gear up. Team up.
Bring with you a team that has made the commitment to work together. Configure your loadouts so that you are powerful together in a variety of ways. Communicate with each other. The Raid will demand that you operate as a team. Cooperation is the key to your success.
Follow the Leader.
It's very likely that you will not finish the Raid in one sitting. Your Fireteam leader is crucial to your eventual potential success. Your progress will be saved for one week. To resume your mission where you left off, you’ll need to follow the same Fireteam leader back into battle.
Sounds a bit more involved than anything else yet offered by the game, no? Good luck!
Here's Activision on 'Vault of Glass':
Today marks the debut of Destiny's first six-player Raid, The Vault of Glass, which is the most intense and uniquely challenging end-game activity in Destiny, requiring strategic communication and close cooperation to win. The raid opens up a new way to play Destiny, and a new location in the game. Hidden on Venus, Guardians level 26 and above can fight for a chance to enter The Vault of Glass in search of gear and glory.
From Bungie president Harold Ryan, "Raids introduce the sixth activity to Destiny, in which players will have to battle their way through intense encounters the likes of which they have yet to experience in the game. It's humbling to see millions of guardians enjoying Destiny already. We can't wait for people to experience this exciting, new way to play the game and are committed to continuing to deliver new experiences to the Destiny community."/p>
'Vault of Glass' is just one of the announced free events coming to 'Destiny.'
