So far so good.
No doubt, this week belongs to 'Tom Clancy's The Division,' which is bearing out to be one of the year's biggest games. (Check out the review here.) Ubisoft has announces that the game, which is only on three platforms, the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, has "sold more copies in its first 24 hours of availability than any previous title in the company's history." This success follows a series of delays, a series of betas and other free, pre-release public tastes and tests, and of course, a launch free of reviews.
No doubt, Ubisoft's decision to invest in the Tom Clancy name has again paid major dividends. (And that's not even mentioning 'Rainbow Six Siege.') Naturally, the work done at Massive, Red Storm, and so on, is really resounding with a March hungry gaming audience. (Myself included.)
Here at High-Def Digest, a review of the Xbox One version is well underway, but personally, I've been really enjoying the PC version. It isn't different from the public bets, but thus far, the combat, which mixes shooting and abilities in a fun third-person way, and the loot/ability-gain cycle has proven to help the nice-looking game be extremely fun. Heck, I've even enjoyed forays into the Dark Zone. Aside from that first shaky hour at launch (12am EST on March 8th), the game has been solid. It's fun enough on my own, but playing with friends has been addicting in the short term. I also really like how doing the different upgrades for my base of operations has let me mix up my skill tree in comparison with my teammates.
The game has been my favorite topic of conversation this week (along with the play time), so if any of our readers have a strong feel for the game, I'd be interested in hearing it.
