The two Korean manufacturers hold the top two spots for most LCD TV shipments in 2014.

According to a report from WitsView, Samsung was the top brand for LCD TV shipments in 2014. LG followed in second place and Sony was a distant third.

Samsung was responsible for 22.8 percent of the LCD TV market share in 2014, holding the same number one position from last year. The company previously held 21 percent of the market in 2013. Meanwhile, LG was in second place with 14.9 percent, up from 13.7 percent the previous year when it also held the number two slot. Sony saw an increase as well, growing from 6.4 percent in 2013 to 6.8 percent in 2014 while also moving into the number three position, replacing TCL who held that spot in 2013. The rest of the top ten are mostly made up of Chinese manufacturers including Hisense, but 2014 also saw American company VIZIO take the number eight spot with 3.5 percent of the market. Overall LCD TV shipments were also up, revealing an annual growth of 5.4 percent with about 215 million LCD TV units shipped throughout the year.

2015 is also poised to be a big year for LCDs, as both Samsung and LG recently revealed several upcoming Ultra HD models with new technology and features like quantum dots, HDR, and expanded colors
