The new voice-controlled speaker will be available next month.
Polk Audio has detailed its latest product, the Polk Assist Smart Speaker. The voice-controlled device is set to launch in June for an MSRP of $199.
“Polk Audio is committed to providing premium audio solutions enabled by the Google Assistant and Chromecast. With the addition of the Polk Assist smart speaker, consumers can easily add Google Assistant’s hands-free convenience and Chromecast’s hi-res multi-room audio streaming to their home,” said Michael Greco, global brand director, Polk Audio. “Polk Assist complements and works with our existing Chromecast-enabled sound bars, including the MagniFi Mini and MagniFi Max.”
The Polk Assist Smart Speaker is built on the Android Things platform with Google Assistant, enabling hands-free music streaming, control of other compatible smart home devices, and more through Google's intelligent learning algorithms. In addition, the unit also offers Chromecast built-in support, allowing customers to group multiple Chromecast-enabled speakers and sound bars together for multiroom playback from apps like Pandora, TuneIn, Google Play Music, iHeartRadio, NPR and Spotify. To get started, users simply need to plug in the Polk Assist and then download the free Google Home app for iOS or Android mobile devices.
