The media server app will let TiVo subscribers stream content to the big screen.
TiVo has announced the addition of the Plex app to its DVR lineup. Plex will be available on the company's TiVo Roamio, TiVo Mini, and TiVo Premiere devices on June 8.
Plex is a media center app that allows users to sort and stream their video, music, and picture collections on the big screen. With the Plex app for TiVo, customers will be able to play content from cloud sources, local hard drives, and networked computers right on their televisions through their TiVo DVRs. In addition to playback, the Plex app also automatically adds movie posters, plot summaries, cover art, and descriptions for content. Other features include the ability to fling media from the Plex Mobile app to the TiVo app and media sharing.
The TiVo Roamio ($145), TiVo Roamio Plus ($311), TiVo Roamio Pro ($471), TiVo Mini ($115), and the TiVo Premiere ($137) are all on sale now.
