Free program coming "closer to launch"
Microsoft, bless them, has been trying to push the all-digital future on gamers long before they're ready, apparently having learned little from Sony trying to foist Blu-Ray on an unsuspecting public. Their latest crazy scheme involved making the Limited Collector's Edition of Halo 5 include only a digital download for the full game. Fans, well, handled it as well as gamers usually handle things they don't approve of.
Thankfully, Microsoft appears to be coming to their senses a bit 343 Industries states via Halo Waypoint that anyone who wants a physical copy can get one, free of charge.
The details are still up in the air, with 343 stating they'll have it locked down closer to launch. More than likely, it'll involve typing in the digital code on a website and giving them your address. Big question now is whether those copies will be in fans hands before the game's launch, since one of the perks of the $250 edition was getting the game a week early. We shall see.
