Speaking as a fan of the great PC and console shooters of the 1990s, the 2016 version of 'DOOM' has a campaign that is not to be missed. (See the review here.) Following a special sale by Gamestop, Amazon is offering both the PS4 and Xbox One disc versions of 'DOOM' for only $19.99 (order here).

Again, I may be a salve to my era, but 'DOOM' offers so much in its single player. The speed of play/movement, the power-ups, the weapons, the edgy feel, the perverse story- it all speaks to me. And then there are the levels. These are the fevered dreams of the Red Planet.

It's very much the qualities of classic id brought forward. I enjoyed the new 'Wolfenstein' games, but 'DOOM' is better by far. For $20, the price is borderline can't-miss.
