The game will also include three different competitive multiplayer modes in addition to the main story mode.
'Battleborn,' the next-gen combat game from 'Borderlands' developer Gearbox Software, received a shiny new trailer today that shows off some of the game’s 25 playable heroes, and the developers handed out some new gameplay information to go along with it.
In addition to the main story mode, 'Battleborn' will support three competitive multiplayer modes that pit teams of five heroes against each other. The Incursion mode should feel relatively familiar to MOBA fans as players lead a team of minions to destroy the other team’s base. The Devastation mode drifts more into FPS territory and has players killing opponents to control capture points.
In Meltdown, two groups of minions will make their way toward the goal at the center of the map. Teams must try to protect their own minions as they make the journey while stopping their opponents’ minions from doing the same.
These three modes are in addition to the game’s main storyline. The campaign supports up to five-player co-op play, including support for two-player splitscreen.
As they master these combat modes, players will have a pool of 25 heroes to choose from, each with their own weapons and abilities. No matter a player’s preferred playstyle, there will probably be a hero that complements that style, whether it’s the hawkman, the beefy minigun wielder, the kunai-throwing mushroom man, or any of the other 22.
While fighting through the world of 'Battleborn,' players will be able to increase their Character Rank, which is specific to a single hero, and their Command Rank, which follows the player regardless of what character they choose.
'Battleborn' is set to hit the PS4, Xbox One and PC this winter.
