Big changes in the winds for Bethesda.
Post 'Fallout 4' and it appears that Bethesda is initiating a pretty major shake-up. Today, Bethesda announced the opening of a new studio in Montreal, and unlike several other ZeniMax owned and operated studios, this new studio will bear the Bethesda name as Bethesda Game Studios Montreal.
This new studio already has a team of 40 operating under Studio Director Yves Lachance, who has recently overseen both 'Fallout Shelter' and 'Wolfenstein: the New Order.' The studio is staffing up now, and thus the question becomes, is Bethesda shifting over to multi-studio model already employed at Activision, EA, and Ubisoft.
What's key is whether or not this new studio will have its own project (rather than supplement development in Maryland), and then, will that project be part of an effort to deliver new 'Elder Scrolls' and 'Fallout' titles faster.
From Todd Howard, Game Director and Executive Producer at Bethesda Game Studios, "We've worked with some very talented developers in Montreal for a long time, and decided it was time to open a studio there. It's exciting to think about the new games we’ll be building together."
