And it's going to be AR and VR capable.
Anyone who has ever seen 'Star Wars,' 'RoboCop,' 'Jurassic', and so on, has seen the amazing work of Phil Tippett. And now Tippett is bringing his remarkable creature design to the world of collectable card games, to the world of augmented reality and virtual reality. In essence, the Holo Chess of 'Star Wars' is being turned into 'HoloGrid: Monster Battle.'
Developed by Tippett Studio and HappyGiant, 'HoloGrid: Monster Battle' is being built to take advantage of a variety of platforms, which means mobile, VR, and AR action. More important, however, is that the project uses Photogrammetry in order to bring Tippett's creations in the game environment via 3D scan.
Just look at the results:
Of course the idea of using actual cards to move the game along brings to mind the excellent early PS3 era 'Eye of Judgement.' With the improvements in technology sicne then, Tippett's iconic designs, and a willingness to work with everything from a Galaxy to a Rift to the the Hololens, 'HoloGrid: Monster Battle' is a very promising project. The next step will likely be to get either a publisher or to launch a crowd-funding campaign.
