Who the guardins now?.
Bungie's 'Destiny' continues to be huge game, as defined by its ravenous player base. 'Destiny: The Taken King' looks to serve that player base as well as attract new players to what is essentially phase 2 of 'Destiny.'
These are the ingredients with which Activision has been pitching 'The Taken King' -
Three new subclasses, one per class
A new campaign and a new villain, Crota's father Oryx, the Taken King
New locations like the Taken King's flagship 'The Deadnaught'
New gear, loot, and flair
New multiplayer content, including two new modes, Rift and Mayhem
And all of this is content that is perfect for existing 'Destiny' fans, but what's surprising is that Bungie is moving forward with fixing some of the core game's issues. There will be a new leveling system which will take players up to level 40. This system will leave gear as a way to customize and augment abilities and characteristics. Nolan North will not only become the new ghost companion, but his voice will supplant all of the old ghost lines. There will even be a new loot drop system.
With these changes, 'Destiny' will evolve, and the question becomes, will it be enough to significantly grow and sustain the player base?
