The action is scheduled to kick off at 1:10 p.m. Eastern (10:10 a.m. Pacific).
The Games Done Quick speedrun marathon is back this week with Summer Games Done Quick 2016, featuring seven full days of live-streamed speedruns all for a good cause.
From this afternoon until just before the clock strikes midnight on Saturday, July 9, SGDQ 2016 will host some of the top speedrunners in the gaming community as they run, jump, and often glitch their way through games new and old, iconic and obscure, at incredible speeds. If there's a certain run you're looking forward to seeing, you can find out when it's slated to happen on the SGDQ 2016 schedule here. A full week of nonstop speedruns means that there should be at least one or two games that will pique the interest of any given gamer.
All the while, the event will be raising money for Doctors Without Borders, a humanitarian organization that sends medical aid to locations around the world where access to health care is limited.
Viewers are encouraged to donate through the speedrun bids, which change the nature of some of the featured runs if fundraising goals are met. For example, viewers can put their donation toward seeing the 'Dishonored' speedrunner go through the game's DLC, or they can use their donation to vote on whether the 'Demon's Souls' speedrunner goes after the good or evil ending. A full list of these bids can be found here. Donating during certain runs also can enter viewers into a sweepstakes drawing, whose prizes are listed here.
You can catch the SGDQ 2016 stream on the organization's Twitch channel or via the embedded feed below. The pre-show starts today at 12:30 Eastern (9:30 Pacific), and the speedruns start about 40 minutes later with 'Super Mario Sunshine.'
