Tactics over micro-management.
From the ashes of Westwood comes Petroglyph Studios, and finally it seems with 'Grey Goo,' the developer is ready to unleash a new kind of RTS that's built in part on the classic 'C&C' design. There are three factions and a single resource, but at the same time, there is a use of tech that puts a major spin on the classic chess design. There is the one-way perimeter and the ability to moves structures around at will. Plus there is a need to not only defend against all sorts of land and air units, but also, cloaked armies. There's even a way to teleport a small set of units.
Ultimately, what is being pushed though, is the idea that that modern RTS are too micro-management heavy, which is where all of this base building tactics comes into play.
'Grey Goo' is due out on January 23rd on Steam and will be featured that weekend at PAX South alongside Yager's 'Dreadnought.'
