Botanical Utility Droid.
When inevitably this world finds itself short of oxygen, we can only hope that we will have something on hand like BUD, a Botanical Utility Droid. Ubisoft's in-house eight-person experiment team, Ubisoft Reflections, has created BUD for use in 'Grow Home,' which is out on PC today for $7.99.
BUD's mission is to find new species of flora to help oxygenate his home planet, and with the discovery of the giant beanstalk-like Star Plant, BUD has hit pay dirt. The gameplay involves controlling BUD as he navigates, maintains, and nurtures the giant Star Plant. BUD has hand controls that are operated through the left and right triggers, and controlling BUD means entering a physics heavy environment.
The whole thing is procedurally generated, Ubisoft is stressing freedom of movement, but there are also faster ways to move. Such means include teleportation pads and flower parachutes.
'Grow Home' is available now on Steam.
