Adjustable tension, glasses relief, dual material ear pads, and more.
Kicking off the month ahead of E3, and it has been a week packed with announcements. Among the bombshells comes Turtle Beach. The company has long been working an all-new headset design meant to meet the very specific needs of professional tournament player. The result is the Elite Pro headset and Elite Pro Tactical Audio Controller.
With the Elite Pro headset, new 50mm drivers are at the core of a design that appears to exude practical comfort. The Elite Pro tackles comfort by keeping as much weight off the headset as possible. That means passive drivers that can articulate to fit user's ears, but that's just the beginning. Visible on top of the headband is the Elite Pro's tension adjustment system, which allows the user to make the fit as tight as desired. For the ear pads, Turtle Beach is trying to bridge the gap between leather sound isolation and fabric comfort. Thus, the outer edge of the cushions is leather while the contact area is fabric.
To help show why the Elite Pro is a new direction for the audio gaming giant, Turtle Beach has specifically partnered with one of eSports' biggest with Optic Gaming.
The Elite Pro also has a special adjustable design in the cushions meant to accommodate eye glasses.
While the drivers push clear, crisp stereo audio, the boom mic has TruSpeak. This positions the Elite Pro as a headset ready for a quality source on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. And of course, Turtle Beach has three such sources in mind.
The showcase piece has to be the Elite Pro Tactical Audio Controller. The Elite Pro T.A.C. pushes a variety of tech, and includes surround options for both DTS Headphone:X 7.1 surround sound and Turtle Beach's Superhuman Hearing. This is a full USB solution, and the four audio sliders are meant to really empower the user through control over things like the out mic boost and background noise limiter. And this audio controller has been built with both the idea of variable independent audio settings and simultaneous team usage and stream output. Multiple Elite Pro T.A.C.s can be chain together using Ethernet cables.
While the Elite Pro headset can be connected directly to a DualShock4 or a newer Xbox One controller, Turtle Beach will also offer both an Elite Pro Tactical Audio Adapter for the Xbox One for $59.95 (connecting to the controller port) and an Elite Pro A.M.P. for the PS4 for $39.95, which will connect via USB.
As a specific add-on for the Elite Pro, Turtle Beach will also offer an Elite Pro Tournament Noise Cancelling Mic. The Elite Pro headset and Elite Pro T.A.C. are priced at $199.95, and the entire line-up is expected to be released this summer. Stay tuned for impressions based off their showing at E3.
