Rechargeable AudioShield is a major feature.
Today, Sony announced a new PS4 themed audio option, the In-ear Stereo Headset for the PS4. This is a wired a headset with inline mic mute and volume controls (wired to the DS4). Also inline is a rechargeable module, the noise-reducing AudioShield. The AudioShield is meant to cancel out outside noise. It has a 15 hour battery life and is rechargeable by USB. The cable is blue woven fabric.
Naturally, this 3.5mm headset can be used with the Vita, the Xperia, or just about anything else with a standard headphone jack (like the new Xbox One controllers). The headset includes three sets of ear tips and a carry pouch and will be priced at £77.99/€89.99. The headset is due out in the UK and Ireland on December 4th and in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Middle East, and Africa on December 9th. No word yet on a North America release, but that could happen at a later date.
Personally, I find noise-cancelling headsets to be useful in airports and airplanes, not so much with game consoles. On cursory inspection, the feature set fits the pricing, but doesn't make sense if the user doesn't plan to use the AudioShield. It'll be interesting to see if this headset makes its way to US.
