It's a new world.
EA has been a big part of E3 for a long time. To take last year as example, Electronic Arts was there right after Microsoft's Conference with their own a Pelé-powered briefing. What followed was a sizable EA booth at E3 with games like 'Star Wars: Battlefront' and 'Mirror's Edge Catalyst' on display. This year, that is all changing.
Today, EA announced EA Play, a player-focused event in the vein of PSX, Nintendo Direct, etc. This event is happing immediately before E3, and practically adjacent. EA Play will take place in LA on June 12-14 right by the LACC in Club Nokia @ LA Live. Additionally, on June 12th there will also be a EA Play event in London at The Mermaid.
As part EA Play, EA will have a press conference live and streamed online on June 12 at 1pm PT. Here's a description of what will be on offer:
Players Attending Live
Experience hands-on game demos, live events, competition, special guest appearances, exclusive memorabilia and more.
Players Viewing Online
A behind-the-scenes experience that will take you into our event, livestreams for all our new games, exclusive behind-the-scenes content and special online-only prizes.
This player-focused event and conference will displace EA's typical E3 presence.
Those interested in attending should go here and sign up for updates.
