Blink and you'll miss it.
The speedrunner community is kicking off 2016 with a full week of mad dashes through an eclectic library of games, all in the name of charity. Awesome Games Done Quick starts today and runs until Sunday, January 10, offering the chance to see some of the world's top speedrunners playing through games new and old as fast as they can.
The AGDQ pre-show starts at 11:30 Eastern (8:30 Pacific), and the speedrunning itself kicks off right at noon (9 Pacific) with 'Splatoon.' The weeklong event will be raising money through viewer donations to benefit the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
If you want to check out the top-level gameplay, you can catch the stream all week through the Games Done Quick homepage or on the organization's Twitch stream. The runners will be playing all sorts of games, from 30-year-old classics to 2015 best-sellers to games you might have never heard of. There are also special self-imposed challenges on the docket, like a blindfolded 'Punch-Out!!' run or a one-handed playthrough of 'Transformers: Devastation.'
If you want to see when your favorite game or runner is up and plan your week, check out the full AGDQ 2016 schedule.
