'Animal Crossing' will link up with an upcoming console title.
Nintendo has announced that they will be bringing 'Fire Emblem' and 'Animal Crossing' titles to smartphones in the future. Additionally, the 'Animal Crossing' game will link up with a console game that hasn't been formally detailed just yet. No other details were given, but given Nintendo's focus on putting original titles on smartphones, it's likely that these are entirely new games, rather than ports. This is a smart move by Nintendo. Both of these franchises are a perfect fit for mobile, and could do extremely well if handled properly. DeNA, Nintendo's partner in smartphone development, has a history of successful mobile titles, so I'm confident this will work out for them.
