No word on other territories.
Following rumors (that Nintendo denied) over the past few weeks, Nintendo has now confirmed that they will be halting Wii U production in Japan shortly. The console has struggled over the years, and with the announcement of the Nintendo Switch, it seemed like an inevitability that the Wii U would soon cease production. On Nintendo's official website, all editions of the Wii U are listed with text reading "production scheduled to end soon in Japan".
No word on how long it will take for the same to be true in other territories, but I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the world follows suit in the very near future.
