Free DLC preceding paid DLC.
Housemarque's PS4 launch title 'Resogun' couldn't be more popular, and in recognition of the game's enduring popularity, the game is getting both free and paid DLC. The free DLC, described as an update, is due before the end of this weekend. The update contains a mix of fixes and tweaks, but it also introduces a Ship Editor.
Players can design their own ship, place afterburners and weapons, and even assign attributes. Ship designs can then be shared online, and there is expected to be serious competition is finding a design that conquers the leaderboard.
The free update also sees addition of the a long requested feature, local co-op.
The update also adds new trophies, some based on the new paid DLC, but others based on the free additions and base content. Sony's XDEV Studios has also sought out and fixed many of the score boosting exploits, and as a result they will be wiping the leaderboards. Because they understand that most players on the leaderboards would rather not have their score wiped, the game is getting a Hall of Fame which essentially immortalizes the original leaderboards.
That's is for the free DLC. The paid DLC, 'Resogun Heroes,' is due out next week. It adds two new modes meant to challenge and entertain veterans of the game. In the Survival mode, the scoring has changed, humans now parachutes, and the world goes through a constant day/night cycle.
More radical is the Demolition mode, which puts players in control of a Wrecking Ball, and removes most of the normal weapon set. The wrecking ball is a kind of double-edged sword, and players have to be careful of hurting their own ships.
