Disc copy a fan's best bet.
Remember when Capcom announced 'Resident Evil Revelations 2?' More than just a sequel or another 'Resident Evil' game, 'Resident Evil Revelations 2' seemed like exactly what the doctor order, a fun 'Resident Evil' game sure to please series fans. Unfortunately, that outlook is now a bit more complicated.
Today, Capcom announced that 'Resident Evil Revelations 2' will be released in four weekly downloadable episodes. Each episode is priced at $5.99, with a season pass going for $24.99, and a physical disc copy (to be released later) priced at $39.99. That may sound like an unfriendly price scheme, but Capcom has promised that the season pass will offer more game content than just the four episodes, while the disc copy will offer all of that and more.
See the handy table for a more clear explanation:
While this scheme does seem needlessly complicated as well as oddly imitative of Telltale Games successful model, the flipside is that Capcom is being upfront and letting players know their options early. Details as to what all of the "extra gameplay" content will be are still to come.
