PlayStation Now PS4 Beta Begins Tuesday

Posted May 19, 2014 at 12:45 PM PDT by Brian Hoss

First public experience of streaming PS3 titles to the PS4.

Sony has announced that the PlayStation Now Beta, which has been taking place on the PS3, will begin on the PS4 tomorrow. PlayStation Now is Sony's Gakai-built service and is designed to stream PS3 games (for playing) to an array of Sony devices without any discs or downloads. The 2014 devices for the service include the PS4, PS3, select 2014 Bravia TVs, and the PlayStation Vita, but Sony expects more to follow later on. The Bravia game controls are managed with a DualShock 3 controller. The entire concept is to offer PS3 games like Netflix movies and shows.

Sony is currently sending out vouchers for the PS4 beta. Those interested are encouraged to register.

Sony has also announced that the Private Beta program for PlayStation Now on PS3s has logged more than 50,000 hours of play. That program is expanding, which is another great reason to register.

With the beta moving forward, the hope for finalized details, like pricing and dates, is closer than ever.
