This could be trouble for some customers.
Update: As of 11/07/2014, the Ubisoft listings are back up on Amazon. Hopefully, they stay that way.
Today, in a move similar to others that can happen very quietly, but can nevertheless be significant for a long time, Ubisoft's upcoming AAA games have vanished from Steam. Chief among these former listings are 'Assassin's Creed Unity', 'Far Cry 4,' and 'The Crew.' At this early point, neither Ubisoft nor Valve have outlined a dissolution of their relationship along the lines of EA and Valve, but that may be the case. If instead, it's just a short term issue, it would be one to affect some of the year's biggest games and the ongoing state of PC gaming.
While many users have chaffed against to Ubisoft Uplay software, it has nevertheless been part of Steam Ubisoft offerings over the past few years. Still, for this author, I own all of the 'Assassin's Creed' and 'Far Cry' titles on Steam. I also have several console versions, but have always wound up picking up the PC version at one point or another. There are dozens of other Ubisoft games in my Steam collection, and so, for a collector like me, the potential nature of this move is not pleasing. It isn't pleasing even though I expect to play 'Far Cry 4' on the PS4, and 'Assassin's Creed Unity' on the Xbox One.
