Fan mod brings classic FPS' graphics up to date
While it's probably time to give up the 'Half-Life 3' ghost, modder Filip Victor is at least allowing players to rediscover City 17 all over again with 'Half-Life 2: Update', a mod which brings 'Half-Life 2' up to current PC game standards, adding naturalistic lighting effects, fog and smoke, water and fire detail, enhanced world details, as well as fixing a few of the game's bugs. The result is stunning, while also serving to highlight just how much the original still holds up against today's standards. The mod will also include commentary from several notable YouTubers as a bonus.
Best of all, the update is free, provided you still have 'Half-Life 2' knocking around your hard drive. A trailer showing off the enhancements is embedded below. The mod will be available tomorrow on Steam.
