Rare's bear has a shot at returning home
At least as far as we're hearing, things have been going smoothly since Nintendo opened up voting for new 'Smash Bros' characters after Wednesday's Nintendo Direct, so it probably only a matter of time before we heard from the heavy hitters. Xbox's Phil Harrison is apparently first out of the gate. Responding to a fan's question about Banjo from N64 hit 'Banjo-Kazooie' showing up, Harrison was actually pretty keen on the idea.
"I think it would be cool if Banjo was in the next [Super Smash Bros] DLC," he said. "We've worked with Nintendo on Rare IP before, no issues."
It wouldn't be surprising, considering Harrison was able to help Rare fanagle N64 exclusives 'Perfect Dark' and 'Conker' out from Big N. Still, Banjo would be a perfect fit, and a welcome sight in the current mascot-laden 'Smash' roster. Course, everyone is still free to keep making suggestions on Nintendo's official ballot site until October. Keep hope alive.
