New characters found via leaked update.
Nintendo apparently slipped up yesterday and the expected update to add 'Mother 3''s Lucas to the roster leaked early for a brief period before it was pulled. Which sucks, but, accidents do happen. But like millions of bratty kids finding and opening their presents two days before Christmas, data miners combed through the update before the pull and found a couple of surprises waiting: A whole load of material confirming that Ryu from 'Street Fighter' and Roy from 'Fire Emblem' are headed to the 'Smash' roster. The most solid proof being their victory videos for clearing the single player:
Ryu:
Roy:
The leak also included some other goodies, like the beautiful render of Ryu's 'Street Fighter II' stage, sound files containing crowd chants for both Roy and Ryu's names, as well as Kirby shouting "Hadouken!", which is probably gonna be the most adorable thing ever. This is also backing up a leak from April which included similar sound files for the 3DS version of the game. So, evidence is pretty strong this is all legit. And that someone at Nintendo is packing their desk right now. Either way, chances are pretty good if we're gonna get the official word, it's gonna be tomorrow or Tuesday. Watch this space.
