See, there's a trailer and everything.
Yesterday, during a rather contentious Nintendo Direct, Nintendo unveiled its new 'Metroid Prime' title in full for the first time since the, erm, let's say lukewarm reception it received at E3 last year. Many knocked 'Federation Force' for basically tossing all that we know and love about 'Metroid' out of the window. The game's producer Kensuke Tanabe, swears that's not true, and that the intention had always been for the multiplayer-focused game to be canon, in order to further explore the battle between the Federation and the Space Pirates.
It also helps that we found out yesterday that the game is being co-developed by Next Level Games, who've teamed up with Nintendo in the past on some of their more underrated titles, like the Wii reboot (Wiiboot?) or 'Punch Out!', and 'Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon' on the 3DS. Not a bad pedigree, and, checking out the newest trailer, the game looks just fine. Not that this matters to the folks who, not unfairly, wanted more Samus Aran exploring deep, dark Gigeresque nightmares in the gloom of space without dorkus space marines gumming up the works. YES, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT YOU, 'OTHER M'.
Anywho. here's that trailer. And the game itself hits sometime this spring.
