Either find two friends with 3DS systems or get ready to play by yourself.

One of the new games Nintendo announced during E3 was 'Tri Force Heroes,' a 'Legend of Zelda' title for the 3DS. The gameplay brings back the co-op feel of 'Four Swords' but is optimized for three players. The game includes clever puzzles and bosses that require all three players to work together. The main game can be played either in three-player co-op or as a solo adventure. But there is no middle ground.

According to director Hiromasa Shikata, 'Tri Force Heroes' will not support two-player co-op, Kotaku reported. If players find it too dangerous to go alone, they'll have to find exactly two friends to play with. And if anyone drops out of the game, the other two are left with a "game over" screen, though their progress will be saved.

Two friends can still enjoy 'Tri Force Heroes' together via the competitive Colosseum game mode, the report continues, but the main game is limited to parties of one or three.

If players choose to play by themselves, they'll still get to solve three-Link puzzles, with the other two characters being controllable via the touchscreen. According to the report, Shikata even said that many testers preferred the game as a single-player experience.
